Mount Carmel School admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs.
Mount Carmel School is not equipped to accommodate students who demonstrate severe academic deficiencies and/or behavioral problems but will make reasonable accommodations for otherwise qualified students. New students may be placed on academic and conduct probations for at least their first semester.
Any student wishing to enroll in Mount Carmel School must complete an application form. Students applying for the first time must submit a copy of their most recent report card, updated health records, and other pertinent materials. All students must have a health certificate from CHC that cannot be more than two years old. All students must update their immunization records needed. Students and parents/ guardians will be notified in writing of their acceptance.
Any student accepted on academic probation must receive a 2.0 (80%) cumulative grade point average or higher for the first quarter. If the student does not fulfill this obligation then their case will be reviewed to determine if the student will remain on probation or if the student may be dismissed from Mount Carmel School. Students accepted on disciplinary probation may receive no more than 3 detentions or one suspension per semester or they will be subject to dismissal. Both academic and disciplinary probation may be lifted once a student completes a semester without violating the above-set guidelines.
Mount Carmel School is run on a two-semester system, and for that reason, students will only be accepted at the beginning of the first and second semesters. To ensure that students will be receiving the maximum number of credits and a proper education we ask that students apply only at these times. Students who are new arrivals on the island will be an exception to this policy.
