MCS Continues to Improve Safety Operations
Mount Carmel School is working closely with the COVID 19 Task Force and the CNMI Public School System to continuously invest and improve mitigation materials and supplies. As Mount Carmel School nears its fourth quarter, MCS continues to prioritize safety efforts while providing high-quality education through the current four-day face-to-face class schedule.
Mount Carmel School started off the school year with a hybrid approach where students met face-to-face on specific days and assigned cohorts met online for virtual learning. Near the school’s second quarter, MCS progressed to a full face-to-face learning schedule while following COVID-19 safety measures. All employees medically eligible to take the COVID-19 vaccine have completed both doses as an added safety measure for their families and the school community.
Prior to the start of the 2020-2021 school year, the school installed a variety of safety materials including floor markers, plexiglass, dividers, washbins, and UVC lighting fixtures in classrooms. Frequent sanitization and physical social distancing are also highly implemented throughout the day as well as the denied access to places that would create possible congregations such as playgrounds and the school’s cafeteria.
Earlier this month, Mount Carmel School launched its annual Early Bird Special which offers major registration and tuition discounts for families until May 01, 2021. The annual early bird registration discount is as follows: For grades K4 - K5 registration is $50 per student, which is normally $100. For students in grades first through twelfth, the registration fee is $100 per student, which is normally $400.
School president, Dr. Galvin Deleon Guerrero has stated, “Through these are tough and challenging times MCS has only grown stronger, we will continue to adapt to the current situation by upholding the safety measures provided by the COVID-19 task force,” he continued saying, “new safety measures are being looked into to finish off the school year and prepare for the upcoming SY 2021-2022.”
MCS principal Ms. Frances Taimano shared, “Despite the many obstacles we have faced since last year and up until now, providing a high-level education is what MCS is here for but safety is the key role in doing so,” she continued with, “we want to ensure all of our students, as well as faculty, remain healthy all while keeping the current year in motion.”
Procedures for student drop off and pick up remain intact and followed to prevent congregation and maintaining safe social distancing. To learn more about the safety procedures taken at MCS visit the school’s website at www.mountcarmelsaipan.com.
