Requirements to Apply:
Dear Parents/Guardians of MCS Kindergarten, Eighth, and Twelfth Grade Students:
As part of our school’s plan to ensure successful preparation, here a few gentle reminders:
First, the completion of required credits to graduate is necessary. Help us in supporting and encouraging your child to do their part to complete their homework, in-class assignments, and projects, as tasked. Great job to those students who continuously do their work and demonstrate respect for subject and teacher expectations.
Second, attendance during instructional time: 7:30 AM – 3:00 PM on Mon. Tues. Thurs. Fri. and 7:30 AM – 1:50 PM on Wednesdays, or unless otherwise adjusted by the School for events, is critical. Attendance expectations are referred to in more than one place in the MCS 2019-2020 Handbook. On pages 38 – 42 specifically, MCS has outlined the Attendance Procedures as a rule. Your cooperation and support with this matter are important.
Third, as stated in the MCS SY2021-2022 Handbook, page 101-102, and in preparing in advance, please note the required attire for both boys and girls. Students wearing disapproved or inappropriate attire will not be allowed to participate in the graduation ceremony.
Male Graduates (for the Baccalaureate Mass and Graduation) are required to wear:
Graduation Fee
Eighth and twelfth-grade students anticipating to graduate will be charged a graduation fee of $100.00 for 8th and 12th-grade graduates and $50.00 for Kindergarten graduates. This fee will cover all the necessary expenses associated with graduation including caps and gowns. The graduation fee is due at the time of ordering of caps and gowns, which is December of each calendar year. The caps and gowns will be distributed to the students upon arrival.
Graduation of Eighth and Twelfth Grades
Students who lack two (2) or more credits will not be allowed to participate in the graduation ceremony. Students may not be allowed to participate in the graduation ceremony for behavioral/disciplinary problems. If tuition and fees except graduation fees are not paid in full, a student may participate in the graduation ceremony. However, a certificate of attendance will be given instead of a diploma. Diplomas will only be released when all accounts are settled at the business office.
Male graduates will be required to wear a white long-sleeved shirt; MCS uniform pants or black dress pants; black dress socks; black dress shoes and a black tie. Gentlemen must be well-groomed.
Female graduates may wear plain white dresses or pastel color dresses (NO PRINTS). Dresses should go below the knee, but no longer than the length of the gown. White dress shoes or white sandals with back straps should be worn. The heels of shoes or sandals must not be more than 2 inches in height. Jewelry may be worn, but earrings must be posted on the earlobe and may not hang or dangle. Other forms of jewelry must be tucked away from view. Ladies must wear their hair away from the face, because of the cap that will be worn.
Graduates are not to wear or carry any flowers during the ceremony. Flowers may be given to students after the ceremony. To preserve the dignity and school identity of the graduation, caps and gown attire may not be adorned, decorated, or altered in any manner
Diplomas
Upon completion of all graduation requirements the school will issue a diploma. In the event that graduation requirements are not fulfilled, the school will issue a certificate of attendance. The school reserves the right to withhold diplomas from any student who demonstrates immorality in actions or conduct detrimental to the reputation of the school, including but not limited to: arrest, accusations or during pending investigation of a crime, threatening another school community member, et cetera. Diplomas shall also be withheld if tuition and fees are not paid in full.
