MCS Prioritizes On-Time Graduation
Mount Carmel School announced that it will continue to prioritize on-time graduation for the 2020-2021 school year. Through the efforts of the school’s board of directors and leadership team, the kindergarten, eighth, and twelfth-grade graduation ceremonies are on schedule to ensure graduates will earn promotion certificates and diplomas on-time.
The kindergarten promotion ceremony is currently scheduled for May 27, 2021. The eighth grade and twelfth-grade Baccalaureate Mass is scheduled for May 28, 2021, with the graduation ceremonies to commence the following day on May 29, 2021. All the mentioned events will be held at the Mount Carmel Cathedral.
As a proactive measure, Mount Carmel School kicked off the current school year with a hybrid approach where students met face-to-face on specific days and were assigned cohorts met online for virtual learning. Near the school’s second quarter, MCS progressed to a full face-to-face learning schedule while following COVID-19 safety measures. All employees medically eligible to take the COVID-19 vaccine have completed both doses as an added safety measure for their families and school community.
Additionally, with efforts from the school’s Leadership Team and the Governor’s COVID-19 Task Force, Mount Carmel was able to resume face-to-face classes to aid in the overall education of the students. The school was able to start with cohort assigned school days to full-time face-to-face classes.
The school’s effort to meet as many of the mitigation requirements is to also prioritize on-time graduation for kindergarten, eighth and twelfth-grade students. MCS will continue to prioritize and maintain the graduation date without compromising the safety of its students.
School president, Dr. Galvin Deleon Guerrero shared, “It is crucial that we ensure our students, especially our seniors, will graduate on time.” Dr. G continued, “Regardless of the pandemic, many of them have successfully gained admission into colleges, universities, and service organizations of their choice. The last thing we want is to delay their plans to pursue their academic goals.”
Additionally, Mount Carmel School launched its annual Early Bird Special which offers major registration and tuition discounts for families until May 01, 2021, for the 2021-2022 school year. The annual early bird registration discount is as follows: For grades K4 - K5 registration is $50 per student, which is normally $100. For students in grades first through twelfth, the registration fee is $100 per student, which is normally $400.
