Mount Carmel School’s recent graduates Robin Kyle Manansala Alvarez, Fiona Marielle Avengaña Bucalig, Richard Jesus Mafnas Villagomez, Jaeuk Choi, Lyndon Moleño Digno, and Hyun Namkung gained admission to each of their respective colleges for their undergraduate education.

Attending the University of Arizona are Mount Carmel School 2022 graduates Robin Kyle Manansala Alvarez and Fiona Marielle Avengaña Bucalig.

Majoring in astronomy, Alvarez shared he chose the University of Arizona, “because of their reputation in majors such as astronomy, cybersecurity, and its countless opportunities for students to connect and collaborate. The financial aid I've been offered and extensive research done with my parents helped me commit to this university.”

Bucalig shared she aims to pursue biomedical engineering at the University of Arizona which has remained one of her top college choices throughout high school. “Ever since I was younger, I've always wanted to go to college in Arizona. I chose the University of Arizona because I wanted to go somewhere that would challenge me academically and force me to grow as a person. Overall, I think that I will thrive and successfully pursue my degree at the University of Arizona.”

Reaching one of his personal goals, Mount Carmel School’s recent salutatorian Richard Jesus Mafnas Villagomez is set to attend the University of California, Berkeley. Pursuing computer science as his major, Richard shared, “I chose UC Berkeley because it’s my dream school; it’s a renowned school in computer science with a strong reputation for impact. At UC Berkeley, I’ll have countless opportunities to explore my interests and challenge myself in order to grow. I’m beyond grateful for this amazing opportunity and will do my best to make the most out of it.”

Attending the University of Guam are MCS graduates Jaeuk Choi who will major in pre-nursing;  Lyndon Moleño Digno who will major in civil engineering; and Hyun Namkung who will major in marketing and communications.

Capturing the excitement shared among his peers Digno commented, “I committed to the University of Guam in hopes of pursuing a career in civil engineering. I chose this university because I wanted to find a school that was close to home. I instantly fell in love with the news that they would be able to teach one of the many things that interest me, engineering. To have such an opportunity to take a course with big interest and to have family, friends, and loved ones at a close distance from home is a big but honest choice. I have hope for UOG because it will make me grow more as a person and find out the many opportunities I can't wait to experience. A new chapter of me is emerging soon, and I can't wait!"

Despite the community impact of Super Typhoon Soundelor, Super Typhoon Yutu, and the covid-19 pandemic, Mount Carmel School continues to strengthen its college preparatory program in order to support its graduate's academic and professional endeavors. In addition to rigorous academic programs, Mount Carmel School prioritizes its student’s access to varying extra-curricular activities, apostolic programs, and community service opportunities.
