MCS Update #04: Resumption of Classes, Exams, and Adjusted Schedule, May 25, 2023, 03:00 PM

Dear Mount Carmel School Families, 

As Typhoon Mawar (02W), makes its way away from the Marianas, we hope you all are safe and well. After careful consideration and planning, please carefully review the following: 

1. Resumption of Classes, Make-Up Days, and Asynchronous Learning

1. Resumption of Classes, Make-Up Days, and Asynchronous Learning

Classes will resume on Friday, May 26, 2023, as a FULL DAY, from 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM. 

As many of you may recall, on December 08, 2022, the school community participated in the Immaculate Conception celebration which can fulfill one of the missed days from the storm. To make up the remaining two days, students will participate in asynchronous learning on Saturday, May 27, 2023, and Monday, May 29, 2023. Teachers will assign the appropriate amount of work to their students to complete on their own. 

For families unfamiliar, asynchronous learning is “Learning in which interaction between instructors and students occurs intermittently with a time delay. Students in asynchronous courses are not required to log in at a specific time to watch a lecture or participate in a discussion, but rather can do their work on their own schedule.” 


2. 4th Quarter Exams 

4th Quarter Final Exams will resume on Friday, May 26, 2023, and Tuesday, May 30, 2023. Please note that Friday, May 26, 2023, is a FULL DAY from 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM. 

• Friday, May 26, 2023: 1st Period - 5th Period
• Tuesday, May 30, 2023: 6th Period - 7th Period

3. Award Ceremony & Class Parties

After the final day of exams on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, teachers and students will continue with their clearance and prepare for the Award Ceremony from 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM. 

On Wednesday, May 31, 2023, students and teachers will prioritize their official clearance from the school year. Afterward, homerooms are welcome to have their class parties to celebrate the last day of school. Dismissal on this day is at 12:00 PM.

Friday, May 26, 2023: Resumption of Classes and Final Exams Day 01

• Full Day: 7:30 AM - 3:00 PM
• Full Uniform
• Final Exams for 1st - 5th Periods

Saturday, May 27, 2023: Asynchronous Learning (IXL, Achieve 3000, Khan Academy) 

• Tropical Storm Makeup Day 01

Monday, May 29 - Asynchronous Learning (IXL, Achieve 3000, Khan Academy) 

• Tropical Storm Makeup Day 02

Tuesday, May 30, 2023-  Final Exams Day 02 and Award ceremony

• Final Exams for 6th - 7th Periods Student (7:30 AM - 10:25 AM)
• Student Clearance (10:30 AM - 12:30 PM)
• Award Ceremony (12:30 PM - 3:00 PM)

Wednesday, May 31, 2023 - Last day of Classes, Class Party, and Graduation Practice 

• Clearance / Clean up 
• Class party & Dress Down
• Graduation practice (Kindergarten, 8th grade, and 12th grade) 

Thursday, June 01, 2023 - Kindergarten Promotion Ceremony

Friday, June 02, 2023 - Baccalaureate Mass (4:00 PM) 

Saturday, June 03, 2023 - 8th Grade Promotion (9:00 AM) and Commencement Ceremony (4:00 PM)
