Mount Carmel School recently announced that long-time educator Mr. Jener Pineda will serve as the school’s campus minister for the 2021-2022 school year.
The campus minister serves as a religious leader for the school and facilitates many of the spiritual events, activities, and programs.
This upcoming school year will be Pineda’s third year with Mount Carmel and has served as a religious leader in many capacities in the CNMI and abroad.
Prior to joining the school community, Pineda brought more than twenty years of educational experience. Presently, Pineda holds a bachelor’s in secondary education with a concentration in history from Holy Angel University, Philippines with a master’s degree in school administration and supervision from Republic Central Colleges, Philippines.
Passionate about spiritual service and leadership, Pineda presently serves as an extraordinary minister, lector, a choir member/music coordinator, a member of the Kristo Rai strategic planning team, and a member of Couples for Christ through the Diocese of Chalan Kanoa.
During his first year at Mount Carmel School, Pineda joined the school’s theology learning community, helped reinstate a youth choir, and assisted previous campus minister, Mr. Virgilio Abueme with the creation of a school chapel. Additionally, Pineda served as a coach for the school’s new track and field and cross country programs.
“I am truly humbled and honored to be given this opportunity and look forward to immersing myself as a campus minister,” shared Pineda. “ It is such a divine opportunity for me and I strongly believe that God will use us to bring our energy and excitement about Him to the students. With the strong leadership of our acting president Mrs. Frances Taimanao guided by Bishop Ryan P. Jimenez and the school board, and the rest of the faculty and staff, we will continue to live with our mission - ‘to educate the whole person to see with Christ’s eyes.’”
As campus minister, Pineda aims to create programs that will instill more meaningful student engagement with their respective parishes. From an administrative perspective, Pineda also aims to foster spiritual growth for MCS teachers and staff through innovative religious activities and retreats.
Acting president Mrs. Frances Taimanao shared her appreciation for previous campus minister Mr. Virgilio Abueme for preparing Mr. Pineda to take on this new leadership position for the school stating, “We are grateful for all the passion and contributions Mr. Abueme has served in his role. We look forward to providing Mr. Pineda this opportunity to step into his new role as a school leader and campus minister.”
