Restored Traditional Celebration of the Feast of the Immaculate Conception on December
On Thursday, December 08, 2022, the Diocese of Chalan Kanoa, in collaboration with Mount Carmel School, restored its traditional celebration for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. The Immaculate Conception is a holy day of obligation in the Catholic community which celebrates the belief that Mary was conceived and preserved without the effects of original sin. As part of the traditional ceremony, the Diocese of Chalan Kanoa, Mount Carmel School students, and community members held a Eucharistic celebration that crowned the Blessed Mother, guided the Procession of the Blessed Mother along Beach Road, and held the Candle Tribute for the Blessed Mother Mary. This restoration of the traditional ceremony was deemed more special as celebrations have been adapted for the last two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
